The focus on America’s energy independence continues.
President Trump’s administration, through the Department of the Interior, has finalized plans to expand drilling in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska. The approval of the Willow Project allows ConocoPhillips to produce up to 590 million total barrels of oil over the next 30 years.
Interior Secretary David Bernhard released a statement on the decision. He said, “President Trump made his administration focus on American energy independence and the freedom it provides from day one of his term. This decision will make a significant contribution to keeping oil flowing down the 800-mile Trans Alaska Pipeline decades into the future while delivering federal and state revenue as well as important impact assistance to the affected native communities.”
Environmentalists are upset with the decision, saying oil activity will disrupt polar bear and caribou habitats.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For wisdom for President Trump as he works to retain energy independence through fossil fuels.
- For those who are engaged in oil production to be good stewards of the environment and its wildlife.
